🔒 Short version: Our extension operates with a strict zero-collection policy. Your activity is 100% private. We use no behavioral trackers, no telemetry (no Google Analytics or tracking scripts), and we never scrape or read your browsing history. Cloud Sync is entirely optional, and all synced data is protected with client-side AES-256 encryption.
1. What Data We Collect
We collect only the absolute minimum data required to operate the service:
- Account data: Email address and name when you create an account
- Usage data: AI credit consumption counts to enforce limits
- Cloud sync data (Pro only - Opt-in): Your notes and templates are only synced if you choose to enable cloud backup. All syncing data is client-side encrypted before transmission.
- Payment data: Handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy — we never see your card details
2. What We Do NOT Collect
- No Website Scraping: We do not track, read, or collect any text or information from the websites you visit.
- No Telemetry or Tracking: We do not use tracking scripts like Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or behavioral analytics tools.
- No Keylogging: The extension only interacts with the specific text box you are currently focusing when you click the insert button. All sensitive password, financial, and secure input fields are entirely ignored.
- No Notes Scraping: Any note content saved locally on your device remains completely on your machine using secure IndexedDB. No server ever checks your local data.
3. How We Use Your Data
Data we collect is used solely to:
- Authenticate your account and manage your subscription
- Deliver AI-powered features through the extension
- Sync your notes across devices automatically for Pro users
- Respond to support requests
4. Data Storage & Security
Local storage: By default, all your notes are stored securely on your device using
Chrome's built-in local storage. Only you can access this data.
Cloud storage (Pro): Pro users automatically get cloud sync to access their notes across devices. All synced data is protected with AES-256-GCM client-side encryption and stored in Supabase, a SOC 2 certified cloud provider. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. Your notes are encrypted locally on your device before transmission, meaning only you hold the decryption key. Not even our backend team can view or access your content.
5. AI & Machine Learning
To improve our service, AI history (if sync is enabled) may be used to train and refine our assistant to better understand your communication style. However, you are in complete control: you can disable AI History sync and storage at any time through the extension's Settings tab.
- Privacy First: Notes and templates are always encrypted and are NOT used for training.
- User Control: You can purge your AI history or disable its sync entirely at any time.
6. Third-Party Services
- Supabase: Authentication and cloud data storage (Pro only)
- Lemon Squeezy: Payment processing — governed by their own privacy policy
- Google Gemini API: AI generation — prompts are processed to deliver writing assistance.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated
cloud data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Local data on your device is deleted when you
uninstall the extension.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Contact support to request removal of your cloud-synced data at any time
- Export your notes from within the extension settings
8. Children's Privacy
My Canned Notes Pro is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data
from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
Significant changes will be communicated through the extension.
